Yet an another unprecedented year. Here’s what I am grateful for.
This year was filled with many challenges and tough times, it tested us mentally and physically. As this year comes to an end, I wanted to reflect upon things I am grateful for in this year and how I have grown as a person. I hope this fills me up with optimism and strength I need to conquer next year.
There are many things I am grateful for in this year. I am happy to have accessibility to all necessities, have a roof over me and job to provide me with. But, here are the few things I am most grateful for:
- I am grateful to have my family and loved ones healthy and safe. The year was tough and many contracted COVID, but I am grateful they are healthy now.
- I am thankful for vaccination.
- I am thankful for traveling around in the US (with necessary precautions). I went on my first solo trip and discovered all the different ways I love traveling.
- Prioritizing my mental health this year. Practicing being authentic, vulnerable and focusing on personal needs are new to me and I am happy to be consistent with those in 2021. Sometimes, its important to be a bit selfish. ;)
- Rediscovering my relationship with my family and developing a healthier/authentic bond with them.
- Life-long friends I made over the year. I shared many laughs and cries with them, so happy to develop a strong bond with them.
- Meeting some friends after almost 3 years.
- Forever grateful for Ajit, my partner, for always being there for me and supporting me through it all.
- thankful for technology that helped to stay connected with family and friends.
- Growing professionally as an analyst and stepping into the arena at work.
We saw a little bit of normalcy this year. COVID surge was the worst in India which brought a lot of uncertainty. Practicing gratefulness gave me the hope to look forward and be present everyday.
This year was about self-growth, loved ones and stepping out of comfort zone. I look forward to next year with hope and end this year with gratitude.
It’s all about: Unlearning, learning and growing everyday and being kind to yourself.
